A short play with music and dance, lasting approximately 20 minutes. Suitable for Year 6 to 8. The resources deal with the building of the Carlisle to Newcastle railway between 1830 and 1838.
No scenery necessary, few props, costumes optional.
Accessible folk music can be learned by ear.
The Unit also includes -
  1. A bridging unit for Year 7, Key Stage 3 based on music from the play.
  2. A selection of folk tunes taken from FARNE website and arranged for School Ceildh bands.
  3. A unit of work for key stage 4 arranging Ceildh tunes for a mixed ability school groups.
