Installation and use of supporting features.

• Clear instructions very easy to use
• Installation worked first time
• ‘Quick Start’ not preferred we would always head towards a topic.

Quick Start and help functions are there for reference and may

be more useful to less confident ICT users.

• Our systems are fully up to date however there may be problems if e.g. Quick Time is missing!

The Quick Time installer is included on the Absorb

Courseware CDs

• Syllabus inclusion would be very useful so that each activity is related directly to relevant course.

Using the pre – written activities

• All the pre – written activities are very relevant to the subject.
• The pre - written examples in demonstrating the extent of possible uses of the software are particularly useful.
• High quality video demonstrations would be very useful with more actual pictures of industrial processes.

Setting up a model

• Greater emphasis on economics of industrial activities would be interesting.
• Games comparing e.g. conditions, yield and cost would add interest.

Creating a worksheet on screen

• Adding text and graphics / saving worksheets and creating folders for storing worksheets is very straight forward.
• Some training for some less confident ICT users may be required!

Our students found it very easy to use Absorb Physics and enjoyed the experience and activities.

Teachers within the department would use the software for most aspects of their work i.e.

1. preparatory work
2. lesson planning
3. worksheet creation
4. demonstrations to class / groups using interactive whiteboards
5. for students to support coursework and real lab experiments.

At this moment in time we couldn’t see much use for use of the software by pupils outside of school. Greater integration with our M.S class server would be handy!!

The Absorb Courseware titles are compatible with Microsoft Class Server in that tasks can be allocated, marks tracked, content edited etc.
