How to conserve network bandwidth and improving browsing response times
Busy networks create congestion, this congestion results in poor response times when browsing the Internet. Reducing congestion is easy, simply request websites that will be accessed in the next few days or weeks to be downloaded to your Cachepilot overnight. Content is then available locally rather than connecting to a remote server across the Internet, the process for the client is 100% transparent.
The Cachepilot can pre-cache or mirror content locally overnight ready for your class that day or week. It will automatically check the website for any changes and update if necessary. The Cachepilot has a predefined user: cacheadmin that allows teachers to cache content all other options are disabled and hidden from view. The worst that can happen is that the download fails. For guidance on how to use these features see the document below
An alternative option for schools is for the technical support team to identify the top 20 websites accessed by the school and to pre-cache or mirror them.
