Northern Grid is one of the ten Regional Broadband Consortia (RBCs) in England. All of the RBCs produce some content; their sites do change regularly so it is useful to keep visiting. Climate Change
Specific activities promoted on the climate change in the curriculum portal that geographers may be interested in are:
- The Climate Change Pledge - will be available from Jan 2006. It is a whole school initiative with good opportunity for links with geography
- Ask the Expert series of live webcasts from Jan-Mar 2006, Y9 - Y13 geographers are invited to submit questions in advance
- An Ask a Question facility on the portal is available now for teachers and learners to submit questions which will be answered by experts at the University of Birmingham's Geography and Earth Sciences Dept
- The GLOBE Programme provides many opportunities for geographers to investigate environmental data, contribute to an international database managed by NASA and share information with other schools worldwide.
- Climate Change Debate at the Young People's Parliament on Feb 3rd will be webcast to schools unable to attend the event. The theme is global citizenship and both participants and viewers will be able to cast their votes on the issues raised.
