SEN Switcher

SENSwitcher is a suite of programs designed to help teach early ICT skills to people with profound and multiple learning difficulties, those who need to develop skills with assistive input devices and very young children new to computers. It is, we believe the first time anyone anywhere has developed an online switch enabled application which targets ICT skills from purely experiential through cause and effect, switch building, timed activation, targeting and row scanning.

SENSwitcher has been designed as a progressive teaching and assessment tool and is accompanied by an 18 page set of teachers notes together with assessment records, developmental skills progression models and small step checklists linked to the QCA P Levels for ICT.

The program is available FREE to teachers, parents, care workers, if fact anyone who wants to use it. We hope you and your children enjoy it.

Hi Michele, glad you're liking SEN Switcher. Unfortunately, due to Apple devices not supporting Flash (the software SEN Switcher was created in) it is unable to run on iOS devices. We are hoping to do an Apple-ready version of SEN Switcher some day - stay tuned to www.northerngrid.org

I think your website is wonderful my son is highly autistic and is non verbal he uses your website at his school and loves it that much i have bought him tablet for home. If it helps anyone it runs perfectly on the Samsung Galaxy tablet. Thank you for such a wonderful website.

Hi :) I love your site! I was having some trouble though. I was trying this out without a switch because I am at home and not at the office where I have my switches. I noticed that the activities didn't respond to my mouse clicks or keystrokes like other online switch games do. Was something malfuncitoning or is it just that they only work with a switch? Seems like a dumb question, im sure :) Thanks for your patience!

Hi Tanna. Some of the activities don't require user input and therefore will just automatically run through (such as the Experiential exercises).

As for the other activities they should respond to a mouse click or the spacebar if you don't have access to a switch.
