During the summer term holidays we saw the development of our Friendship Garden, designed for the children as a place to rest, have time to themselves, time to have fun and meet new friends. Over the Autumn term our Friendship Monitors have grown and become more confident and we have seen the introduction of Friendship Friday where we try hard to make at least one new friend.
Mrs Bury runs a junior poetry club and they have taken the topic of Friendship as a focus for their poetry writing. The girls meet once a week and work together or independently to create wonderful and inspiring poetic words.
Every alternate Monday evening the Year 6 ICT club girls meet for an hour after school and were given the task to develop their knowledge further from their half hour weekly ICT lesson to create a PowerPoint presentation of our friendship poems. The girls spent time collecting their poems together and planning what and how they would present it. They decided on appropriate colours, pictures and videos. They sought help on choric speaking and learnt how to use the digital video camera. Sophie, Katie, Fleur and Rachel were very dedicated to this task and concentrated hard, delegating the work and then bringing it back and discussing further improvements. The girls learnt how to add films, sounds, animations and a 12 second transition in between each slide for maximum impact. The team during their hectic lunchtimes also tried to find the time to add some additional work on this project. Really well done Girls!

Help The girls learnt new skills from their weekly 30 min ICT lesson but the ICT club work was all done independently.
'We have really enjoyed making this PowerPoint; it was amazing to see what we could do and remember. We learnt how to do new things and develop our ideas further and we worked really well as a team.
Thank you Miss Bland for giving us the chance to create this wonderful anthology. We love it!'
