Feedback from Attendees

I thought the presentation was excellent and very informative; it also gave me lots to think about for Hartbeat and the Hartlepool services.

Simon’s presentation was extremely thought provoking and, for me, very scary. I suspect that I am one of the ‘it’ll be alright if you steer clear of the internet’ brigade. I realise that I can no longer take this stance.

I was most impressed with the session – both the content and the delivery. I think it was thought provoking and for me personally made me aware of some things I had not previously considered.

I have attended recent training about using “new media”, mostly promoting this. It occurred to me yesterday that even though they had spoken about safety, they hadn’t really challenged my thinking. I thought the training yesterday was good because it went a bit beyond the “be careful who you talk to on social networking sites” message. It made me think far more about the bullying aspect.

Because I don’t use Facebook or You tube or even MSN, I don’t really think about the impact of information that stays on there forever. I think of You Tube in a sort of Jeremy Beadle type way. So awful videos would appear on telly but then you would forget them. Of course You Tube is not like that! So the impact on any child who is on there will be enormous as they grow up. So I thought that was challenging for me.

I thought that it was a useful, thought provoking presentation. The presentation itself was entertaining and absorbing.

I thought it was one of the best (entertaining, informative) sessions we have ever had at Senior Staff Forum. He so clearly is very knowledgeable with regards to the subject area & presented extremely well. I was so pleased that he presented, as has been the case with other experts in the IT/IS field we have seen, the real risks of children/young people getting themselves into difficulty, rather than emphasising the ‘paedophile’ threat.

I found the session really eye opening and it helped to think of things from a different angle.

I thought Simon’s presentation was thought provoking, in that it set out a balanced view of the changing e.world – yet presented some of the challenges too for us in promoting the safety of both our workers and children and young people.

Absolutely brilliant. Was a really creative presentation. Posed a lot of questions for Barnardo’s – would like for everyone to be able to do the session. Simon made it really interesting.

I thought the presentation was very very good and could possibly be a full day's training for staff. It certainly gave me food for thought. I think the facilitator obviously had a lot more resources than he had time to deliver.
