Protecting Ourselves When Working With Children

Following a successful similar course delivered last year the ATL North East Learning Network arranged a workshop on Personal eSafety led by Simon Finch from the Northern Grid for Learning.

With all members of the school/college workforce increasingly using IT in their practice, it is important to ensure all staff are fully aware of the potential problems associated with the use of ICT in the classroom and understand what practical steps they can take to protect themselves. Additionally, the increased use of Online Social Networks in both our personal and professional lives increases our vulnerability and as such we wish to raise awareness of issues relating to the same for the education professional.

This workshop will will cover a range of topical themes and issues including:

• Bullying
• Abuse and Harassment
• Unsuitable Materials
• Risks to mental health
• Appropriate home/school use of IT

There will be an opportunity to ask questions throughout the workshop.

This workshop is FREE to ATL members although places are limited.
