Northern Grid is working with schools from around the region on the following projects:
- Normanby Primary School, Redcar and Cleveland, Eston Mines Project. Producing a dual layered map of the Eston Hills for the children to use on their PDAs using Wildmap software. The children will complete a multimedia presentation using content collected on PDAs during the walk.
- Redcar and Cleveland Wii and Nintendo DS project. St Peter's C of E Primary School, Dormanstown Primary School, Normanby Primary School, Skelton Primary School, Margaret Clitherow's Catholic School and St Bede's RC Primary School are working with Nintendo Wiis and DSs from Foundation Stage to Year 7.
Openzone, South Tyneside, Gifted and Talented. Producing a range of mobile learning devices to be accessed through the VLE and Learning Platform
- Openzone, South Tyneside, Pedagogue. Producing media rich learning objects for learners and teachers
George Stephenson High School, North Tyneside, Developing Writing Skills Using New Technology Hardware. Using a hand held keyboard with SMS text translation and predictive text software with Year 7 students
- Longbenton Community College, North Tyneside, Creation of Online Activities and Resources to Support KS3 ICT. Creating a website with resources and activities that will cover most of the requirements of the new program of study for KS3 ICT
