Animations - Winner

This category features animated presentations, created using school ICT hardware and software. Entries in this category were limited to 2 minutes in length and the subject of the animated presentation was left to the school’s choice. Schools had to demonstrate that pupils have been extensively involved in creating the animation.

The animation was created by Y5/6 class and the pupils were aged 9 - 11 years old when it was produced.

Information:

This project began by a response to a flyer offering expertise to primary schools. Peter Harrison, a technician from Glendene Special School, spent a week with the Year 5/6 pupils from Montalbo, helping the children plan the story and assisted with the technical aspects.

The pupils brainstormed their ideas then, when one was chosen, they created a giant storyboard, a script and started designing the characters. Every child in the class had a role and created a character and a piece of scenery each. The backdrops were created by the pupils too. Peter discussed and demonstrated the skills and techniques the children would have to use. Children took turns directing, filming and moving the characters and Peter was there solely to offer advice and support. The final piece was edited by Peter.
