What Happened
Pupils were divided into working groups and each group was assigned a different stage of the butterfly life cycle. They used books and display posters as a storyboard for what they were to present. The animations were filmed in stop motion using simple video cameras from Tag software, the footage transferred by USB to the classroom computer and the animation created using software that came with the camera. Each groups animation was joined to the next to create the final product. See below for the video.
Pupils also used fuzzy felt life cycle kits and fold out life cycle posters from Yorkshire Publishing and life cycle jigsaws from Just Jigsaws to extend their learning on the subject.
They also produced a classroom display of life cycle mobiles which can be viewed in the Images section below.
