What Happened?
The VTLE was launched in KS2 of the school with pass worded access for staff pupils/parents and governors. The VTLE is hosted centrally by the authority and accessible anytime anywhere. The school has developed its ICT capability to allow access through a KS1 suite and a KS2 suite as well as ICT provision in all classrooms. Pupils therefore have access to the VLE in all areas of the school both during lesson time and at the beginning and end of the school day and also at home and in local access areas eg community associations and libraries.
Sarah delivered initial training sessions and demonstration lessons using the VTLE for KS2 staff.
The facility is now being used by all KS2 pupils and staff for a variety of activities including:
- Pupils own web page creation viewable by peers.
- Homework setting by staff and access by pupils.
- File storage for pupils accessible at home and school.
- Walled garden messaging facility.
- Walled garden chat.
- Interactive multi choice questioning engine.
- Display and publishing of work, images etc.
- Communications with parents, newsletters letters etc.
- E-zines produced collaboratively by pupils.
See the images and documents below for examples of these activities.
