Information:

Radio Tilery (www.radiotilery.co.uk) was aimed at developing the speaking and listening skills of a group of Y4/5 children. The children used Apple Macs to create audio recordings to be presented as a radio-style programme and other themed podcasts. The children were taught how to create jingles and record audio on Garageband. They then used these skills to create a radio show, a Bully Rap, an interview with the author Alan Gibbons, an Anti-bullying themed podcast and a Persuasive Peru themed presentation.

The children were very much involved in the direction of the project, therefore they have ownership of it and are highly motivated. There has been a significant improvement in the children's Literacy levels for both reading and writing since the project began. Throughout the project the children kept a video diary about their thoughts on the podcast project, using iMovie and they produced a video showcasing their achievement. The video and website were both created by their teacher but the content of them are entirely the children's own work.

The children also demonstrated their podcasting skills at Stockton's Apple Showcase event in July 2007.
