A MS Excel document is available to download and use with pupils. Pupils would be expected to fill this in with adult help.
It has 'I can' statements to which the pupils can respond
by putting a Y in the appropriate column -
I can, I can with help or I have not yet.
In response the pupil will get a visual prompt - a smiley or frowning face and the computer gives a comment about their progress.
The document is locked. The only cells which can be accessed are the ones to put a Y in. If the pupil enters the Y in the wrong column they must make sure they remove it when they put the Y in the new column.
The document can be printed out or saved.
It is suggested that when using Excel with younger pupils the tool bar is customised to remove most of the icons and that large icons are used.
