Clicker (Crick)

Clicker software allows access to a number of readymade grids with words and pictures the children can click on to add to their text. They can be used with any word processor, though Clicker 3 comes with its own.
Words on the grid can be accompanied by pictures to aid reading. You have the choice of sending only the pictures, or only the text or both to your word processor. The children can also type directly on to the word processor to add text of their own.
Clicker 3 has its own speech facility so that children can hear the words before selecting them.
It is very easy to create your own grids.Clicker 3 has a useful Tutorial to show you how to do this.
The second example screen show that it is possible to use the grids to support work with the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme.

Some of the activities Clicker can be used for to support literacy are:
As a word bank
Children can be asked to rearrange jumbled up sentences
They can do simple word matching tasks
Use the grid for part of the sentence and type in missing words
