The activities in this section are based on the theme of Riverside
Regeneration.
Currently there are four activities one for each of the subjects:
Maths, Science, Geography and Design and
Technology. While the activities can be used by individual pupils,
they have been written to promote Higher Order Thinking Skills for
pupils at Key Stages 3 and 4 and this is best achieved with teacher
intervention and collaborative work. Discussion of the activities
should be encouraged along with time to reflect on the thinking
skills involved e.g. what did the pupils actually do, what strategies
did they use to solve the problems, were these strategies effective?
Each activity has guidance notes available in the teachers'
notes section and printable resources in the resources
section. The printable resources mean that pupils away from the
computer can do all or parts of the activities.
To allow collaboration the email and
bulletin board section allows pupils to submit their solutions
and comments, which will be displayed on the site. The submissions
will be checked before being displayed. This area is expected to
be developed to provide an Ask the Expert facility.
