For parents
Once you have become aware that your child is gifted in a particular area
you need to know how to have that confirmed. Once confirmed, you need to
know what provision is available to support your child and advice about
how to support the child yourself. If you feel that the provision is inadequate
then you need to know who to go to for advice. You may also feel that you
would like to talk to other parents who are in the same situation and to
find other children for your child to talk to.

For teachers
You want to enable every child to achieve their full potential but may
find this difficult. Having a very able child who knows more about a subject
than you do can be quite a challenge. You don’t have the time to create
separate programs of work for individual children – much as you would
like to. You may have the responsibility for all the gifted and talented
children in your school. How can you make sure that they are all receiving
the support that they need?
