Key Stage 3

Richard Murray

Abbey Hill School Technology College

Plan

Ask the students to get out their folders.

Introduce the students to the design problem. They are to design the logo (any they like) and draw it and any other trade marks etc. on the outline supplied.

They may want to consider decorative stitching and coloured areas on the body of the shoe.

They should then draw a sole pattern on the line drawing of a training shoe sole. One point they should think about is the name of the maker and if they want it to be read when one sees the sole or if it should print the makers name in wet mud or leave a print on dry floor, assuming the shoe is wet. If the latter is the case they should laterally invert the logo on the sole.

The sheets will be printed on both sides giving students four training shoes and soles to work on. The work should be original and not a copy of the students own shoe soles.

If the group finish this part and some will they should do a poster on A4 paper advertising the training shoe.

MAKE SURE THEY RETURN FOLDERS TO DRAW AT THE END OF THE LESSON AND PUT AWAY CRAYONS AND FELT TIPS ETC.

Make it bold and colourful!
