Plan
Describe the problems associated with bird damage to milk bottles or seeds. Can the students suggest ways of preventing this happening. It is OK to frighten the birds away but they must not be damaged. The solutions to this problem may be sketched on the board and discussed.
The students may choose which part of the problem they will tackle and with free access to materials while they are designing they should with the aid of several sketches come to a final solution complete with work plan and simple working drawing
The students should now begin construction and as usual help will be available individually or collectively.
Measurement of bottles may cause a problem and callipers will have to be shown to the group.
The vacuum former may need to be demonstrated too if it could provide the perfect solution to some students. Any changes during construction should be noted in the students file.
