Title
Bird Intelligence Tests
Description
Year 8 Modified Curriculum
Key Stage 3
Area Designing/Making
Level 3

Objectives
It would seem appropriate that we test the intelligence of birds as a project since they choose the full cream milk against skimmed and wash grubs off seedling roots in puddles. This project is offered for the students to design some simple problems for the birds to solve.
Equipment Required
Whole range of workshop tools and materials plus some junk modelling resources.

Plan
Introduce the students to the idea of setting birds problems to obtain food and ask what we could do.
We will probably have to make a simple bird table and get them used to feeding in a part of the school which is quiet for a time first before we spring our tests on them.
The tests will have to be devised by the students but will perhaps come into the task/reward area and if we can make the test self-resetting we could perhaps find a way of counting the visits using the computer. Perhaps we could start with how many visits to the table and see where we go from there?
