Plan
Introduce the students to the idea of moving pictures as in some of the resource books. Explain how each works and then sketch some examples on the board of this type of picture complete with hidden detail. Show the group the pictures of the dog with the ears that lift, the sumo wrestlers, and the dragon etc.
The students should sketch some possible pictures showing:-
What the picture does, the movements.
The movements should be appropriate.
Hidden detail showing how it moves.
The picture should have a humorous theme, if possible.
The best card for construction is rather bland in colour and takes paint very poorly. The more colourful card is too thin (thicker is too expensive) lamination seems the best solution even if paper is the top laminate as it will take colour well.
Pivot points need plenty of card around them so they do not split or tear.
Once the students have completed their working drawing they may start construction.
Interesting work will be shown to the group and help will be available individually or to the group as required.
Once the picture is complete it should be dismantled coloured and reassembled when dry.
Any changes should be noted and stored in the students file.
