Plan
Discuss the problem of litter and what constitutes litter with the students, sketch on the board any appropriate parts. School or nursery also suggests SAFETY issues and therefore no trapping mechanisms or sharp edges.
The discussion should be led to what sort of bins the students have seen in schools, playgrounds and fairgrounds. It is possible that if the students produce a particularly good bin that it might find use as a store for cotton wool or sweets in a bedroom. They may even be used for small items of litter.
From the ideas on the board and rekindled memories the students should produce sketches of a number of bins leading to a working drawing and work plan.
The students should now begin work on their project. Once completed the bin should be coloured as in the sketches and allowed to dry.
