Plan
Continued from last sheet....................
Axles can be pushed through the chassis and marked a little over size. They can be cut by rolling a Stanley knife on the mark and then snapped.
Wheels may then be pushed onto the axles and then spun to see if they are free running. If the wheels bind look for:-
Crooked wheels..................................................straighten
Glue from the joints touching wheels..............remove glue or add washers.
Axle holes tight.................................................. ease
with and abrafile
Wheels touching chassis..................................pull them out a
little along the axle
The students should 'fair-test' their buggies and after a discussion lead them to a standard slope, used without pushing.
The results from a couple of test runs can be noted in the table in their work books.
The buggies can be sketched in orthographic projection in the book too and a final sketch of their buggy being tested can be added bottom right.
