Plan
What sort of things do the students have lying around in their bedrooms. Keys, buttons, pogs, sweets, pencils and a whole lot more small easily lost items.
What sort of container could be used to store these? Remember it has to fit in your room and not look out of place.
The students should make a list of the things that they want to store. It will probably be necessary to write a list on the board for some of them to copy words from. The list will need checking to see that only smallish items no larger than pencils or keys have been suggested.
The students then sketch a number of possible solutions to the problem and from these produce their final solution which should have some dimensions added. Safety should be considered e.g. do we really want pencils stored point upwards near where you might bob down and stab yourself.
Squared paper may be of assistance transferring designs from paper.
A work plan should be produced prior to starting construction.
The students may start construction and individual help will be made available or core skills demonstrated to the group.
The work is to be finished to a good standard and it is anticipated colour may be added.
Any modifications should be noted in the students work book.
