Almost all children enjoy painting and colouring using the computer. Today's powerful computers can display thousands (sometimes millions) of colours and ever more sophisticated art packages are being developed with tools to create almost any artistic effect. However, for children with a severe learning difficulty getting to grips with complex tools and cluttered toolbars can be problematic especially when, for some, its difficult enough just to remember which button to press on the mouse or which shape is the circle! If you ever tried to use something as simple as Microsoft Paint with SLD children you will know what I mean... lost toolbars... closed programmes.. one of our pupils even managed to log on to the Financial Times web site.. Is that art?
