It is generally recognised that there is approximately 20% of the population who may have a need for some form of specialist education. It is with this not insignificant number of people in mind that we aim to highlight resources and information that will be of practical use to students, teachers, parents and professionals working with this section of the population.
The web site has been developed to utilise new and emerging technologies, in particular broadband computer access. This is a significant development for students and adults with special needs of all kinds. Greater bandwidth enables the delivery across the Internet of multi-media content, which is important to engage sometimes-reluctant learners.
We welcome feedback both positive and negative and if you have any additions you wish to see on this area of the site or any other part of the Northern Grid site please let us know. You can find the details in the contacts section.
This section of the web site should not be seen as separate, but as an aspect of the development of the learning potential of everyone. Inclusion, which is at the heart of the development of the potential of everyone, means that although some people do indeed have very specific needs these should not preclude them from being part of the community.
You can find details and contact information about the diverse areas of special needs from the sections above..
